Saddle Ridge Rentals Near Genesis Centre | Livenvo Rent
Saddle Ridge began as ranching land annexed to Calgary in 1894, remaining largely rural acreages until drainage issues delayed planned 1990s urbanization into the 2000s. Now one of the city's most diverse communities, it centres on Saddletowne Circle and the 225,000-square-foot Genesis Centre, with its own C-Train station at the Blue Line's northeast terminus.
Saddle Ridge sits at Calgary's northeastern edge, on land originally annexed for ranching in 1894 on the traditional territory of the Blackfoot. The area remained largely rural acreages for most of the twentieth century, with an active community association dating to the 1970s; planned urbanization in the 1990s was delayed by drainage issues and didn't get underway in earnest until the 2000s. Today the community is framed by Metis Trail to the west, Stoney Trail to the east, and Airport Trail to the north, with Calgary International Airport and the Saddle Ridge Industrial Area sitting just west. Saddle Ridge is now one of Calgary's most ethnically diverse communities, with large Indian, Pakistani, Punjabi, and Bengali populations, reflected in the restaurants and grocers around Saddletowne Circle. The Genesis Centre, a 225,000-square-foot recreation complex with a YMCA and a Calgary Public Library branch, anchors community life alongside two indoor field houses and numerous multi-purpose rooms. Saddletowne Station, which opened in 2012, currently sits at the northeastern end of the Blue Line, giving renters direct downtown access. Newer development, including the Savanna extension, continues to add housing alongside the community's older acreages. For renters who want an established, culturally vibrant northeast community with direct C-Train access and a major recreation centre, Saddle Ridge delivers both.
