Homestead is one of Calgary's newest northeast communities, the first project from local developer Partners Development Group, situated east of Stoney Trail and currently accessible via McKnight Boulevard and 80th Avenue NE. Rather than treat it as an established neighbourhood with decades of history, it's worth being upfront: Homestead is still actively under construction, with new phases of homes continuing to release since the community's launch. The development plan includes 27 rolling acres of parks, and the site's open position gives residents prairie views to the east and mountain views to the west on clear days. Housing spans a range of price points and formats, from no-condo-fee townhomes to laned homes and larger front-garage single-family houses, aimed at first-time buyers, downsizers, and multi-generational families alike. Because the community is still building out, some amenities, including schools and dedicated retail, are not yet in place, and renters should expect to rely on neighbouring Saddle Ridge, Skyview Ranch, and Martindale for established shopping, recreation, and LRT access in the near term. For renters comfortable with a still-developing community in exchange for newer housing stock and long-term growth potential, Homestead is worth watching.
