Silver Springs was developed between 1972 and 1980, bounded by Crowchild Trail to the north, Sarcee Trail to the east, the Bow River to the south, and Nose Hill Drive to the west. The Silver Springs Golf Course occupies the community's eastern section, and the Bowmont Natural Area, a stretch of river valley parkland commonly known to residents by its own name, borders the community along its southern edge. Housing is predominantly low-density, developed through the 1970s. The community's river valley position gives many streets access to natural green space and pathways without a long drive, and Silver Springs shares much of its character and development timeline with neighbouring Scenic Acres. Residents who have lived in the area for two decades or more are common, a sign of the community's staying power. For renters who want an established northwest community with genuine river valley access and a resident golf course, Silver Springs is a strong, long-standing option.
