Legacy is bounded by Calgary's southern city limit against Foothills County to the south, Macleod Trail to the west, Walden to the north, and the Bow River to the east. Developed by WestCreek Developments, it has been one of the city's fastest-growing communities, with its population increasing 81 percent between the 2015 and 2016 municipal censuses alone. Legacy Village, the community's retail hub, includes a Sobeys grocery store, a Shoppers Drug Mart, banks, cafes, and fitness studios, with Shawnessy Shopping Centre, Walmart, and Costco a short drive away. More than 15 kilometres of pathways run through the community's ponds, green spaces, and environmental reserve lands, and housing spans condos, duplexes, laned homes, and estate properties on the community's escarpment. A notable piece of public art, the 'Open Hearts Icon' sculpture by artist and actress Jane Seymour, was gifted to the community and unveiled in 2016. All Saints High School, with capacity for 1,500 students, serves the area. For renters who want a fast-growing southern community with genuine retail already in place and extensive pathway access, Legacy is worth a close look.
