Parkhill Rentals on the Elbow River Ridge | Livenvo Rent
The escarpment above Stanley Park gives Parkhill its name, and the community has occupied that ridge overlooking the Elbow River since development began in 1910. Renters here get river-valley views, direct access to Stanley Park's pathways and outdoor pool, and proximity to the 39 Avenue C-Train station across Macleod Trail.
Parkhill was named for the hill rising sharply above the Elbow River on the northeast side of Stanley Park, and development along that ridge began during Calgary's first major building boom in the early 1910s, making it one of the city's oldest neighbourhoods. The community is bounded by Mission Road to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, roughly 42nd Avenue to the south, and the Elbow River and Stanley Park to the west, with Roxboro Park bordering it to the north as well. For decades the community was officially named Parkhill/Stanley Park before shortening to just Parkhill sometime in the 2010s, though the two names are still used interchangeably by longtime residents. Along the Elbow River's east bank sit the remains of Lindsay's Folly, an unfinished sandstone mansion begun in 1913 by Dr. Neville Lindsay, whose financial troubles left only the foundation and main floor standing before the city acquired the site in 1936. Stanley Park itself offers tennis courts, an outdoor pool, playgrounds, and pathways along the river, all reachable on foot from most Parkhill addresses. The 39 Avenue C-Train station sits within reach just across Macleod Trail for Red Line access, giving renters a practical transit option alongside the neighbourhood's river-valley setting.
