Rentals Near Lions Park C-Train | Livenvo Rent
Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill sits on an escarpment once part of the Riley family homestead, claimed in 1888 and annexed to Calgary in 1906. Renters here get downtown and mountain views, the Lions Park C-Train station within the community, and walking access to SAIT, the Alberta University of the Arts, and Kensington.
Before it was a Calgary neighbourhood, this land belonged to the Riley family homestead, claimed in 1888 by Thomas Riley and his wife Georgina Hounsfield Riley, whose home, Hounsfield Lodge, once stood on what's now the site of the Bethany Care Centre. Their original holdings stretched across what later became Hillhurst, St. Andrews Heights, and University Heights as well. The land was annexed to Calgary in 1906, though Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill wasn't established as its own neighbourhood until 1953. The community sits on an escarpment offering views of downtown to the south and the Rocky Mountains to the west, bounded roughly by 16th Avenue to the north, 14th Street to the east, and Crowchild Trail to the west. The Lions Park C-Train station sits within the community itself, giving renters direct Red Line access, while the North Hill Centre shopping area covers everyday needs with grocery and retail anchors nearby. SAIT, the Alberta University of the Arts, the Jubilee Auditorium, McMahon Stadium, and the University of Calgary are all within a short distance, making this a practical option for students and staff at any of those institutions, and Kensington's shops and restaurants are an easy walk south for evenings out.
