Banff Trail Rentals Near Red Line CTrain | Livenvo Rent
Banff Trail was established in 1952 during Calgary's post-war baby boom under its original name, West Capitol Hill, before later being renamed after Crowchild Trail's former identity as the road to Banff. Renters get direct Red Line CTrain access, with the University of Calgary bordering to the west and SAIT to the south.
Banff Trail was established in 1952, part of the wave of suburban growth that followed Calgary's mid-20th-century population boom. It was originally named West Capitol Hill and only took on its current name sometime in the 1970s or 1980s — a nod to Crowchild Trail's earlier identity as the road out to Banff, Alberta. Land here was annexed to the city in 1910, and Banff Trail was notably one of the last Calgary communities where residents purchased lots directly from the city rather than through a developer. The community sits northeast of the Crowchild Trail/Trans-Canada Highway interchange, bordered by McMahon Stadium and the University of Calgary to the west and SAIT to the south. Banff Trail Station serves the Red Line CTrain, connecting renters directly to downtown, SAIT, and the university without a transfer. The community's southwest corner holds Motel Village, a commercial strip of hotels between 16th Avenue, Crowchild Trail, and Banff Trail itself. Banff Trail's community association is one of Calgary's oldest, active since the 1950s, and the neighbourhood is served by several bilingual schools including Branton Junior High and William Aberhart Senior High. For renters prioritizing walkable transit and proximity to both SAIT and the University of Calgary, Banff Trail is one of the most direct options in the city.
