Highland Park Rentals Near Centre St | Livenvo Rent
Highland Park sits along Centre Street's historic transit corridor, where a streetcar once carried residents downtown before giving way to buses in 1947. Renters find a golf course, Confederation Park, and Queens Park Cemetery framing the neighbourhood's edges, plus a walkable grid of sidewalked streets leading to nearby shops and schools.
Highland Park's history stretches back to 1910, when the surrounding land was folded into the city, though the community itself wasn't established until 1946. Decades earlier, a streetcar ran along Centre Street North from 1909 to 1947, linking a stop at 32nd Avenue to downtown before trolley buses took over the route — a transit legacy that a future Green Line LRT station, planned for the same corridor, is expected to extend once construction reaches this stretch of the city. For renters, the neighbourhood's grid of sidewalked streets and back alleys makes getting around on foot straightforward, whether the destination is the golf course tucked into the north end or Confederation Park and Nose Hill Park just beyond the community's borders. Queens Park Cemetery occupies the southwest corner, adding a quiet green buffer between homes. Centre Street North has long doubled as Highland Park's main street, home to small grocers and services dating back to the early 1950s. McKnight Boulevard and Edmonton Trail frame the community's north and east edges, giving drivers quick routes toward Deerfoot Trail and the airport. Older character homes and apartment buildings sit side by side here, and with a mix of post-war housing stock, the area suits renters looking for an established inner-city feel close to downtown.
